Design of RC Isolated Footing with Axial Load and Bending Moment

PROCEDURE

  • Enter the working Load (P) in kN
  • Enter working moment (M) in kNm
  • Select grade of concrete (fck) in N/mm2 and grade of steel (fy) in N/mm2
  • Enter the column dimensions l and b in mm
  • Select the type of strata and then select the SBC of soil in KN/m2
  • Enter the effective cover (d') in mm
  • Once all the basic design parameters are entered, click on Next level.
  • Enter self weight of footing (%) in the range of 10 to 15.
  • Calculate the area of footing (Af) in m2. After three incorrect attempts the correct formula and answer will be displayed.
  • Then enter the length of footing in m within the range of √Af to √1.5Af
  • Proceed to the further step by clicking on ‘Next Level’
  • Calculate the net upward pressure in both longer and shorter directions. After three incorrect attempts the correct formula and answer will be displayed.
  • In the next step, calculate Mux and Muy in Nmm and Astx and Asty in mm2. After three incorrect attempts the correct formula and answer will be displayed.
  • The minimum area of steel required will be calculated and the maximum value will be considered for further calculations.
  • Choose bar diameter for reinforcement in both directions. Lastly, spacing will be calculated.
